I stumbled upon this cuz I knew youtube had clips from banned/racist as hell cartoons, but I never saw this one!!!

That material on here leaves me speechless...I mean the saliva of shock even evaporated!!!

It's a shame that these were cartoons for children to watch and enjoy during breakfast...after school...on the weekend...or at the theater. AND THE FACT THAT THIS WAS OK IS WHAT KILLS ME!!!!

Digital Archeological Digs: Discovery #1

First discovery to kick of the new year/decade. Actually this was a late 2009 discovery, but it slipped my mind until after the new year. Now, I'm an avid Marvin fan borderline groupie if the man was still with us today, so I didn't really pay Stevie any mind. Now before I get cursed out, Innervisions is my ish as well as many other tracks, but I was on this "Marvin is the greatest! Hand down! There ain't no need to listen to no one else!"

BUT...

I'm on my way home from a late night Kwanzaa shindig, and my girl Thicks' man had Stevie softly playing in the background, and at that moment, my musical ear was fiendin for future fixes once I got home and to the nearest sound device. Once I gave the entire album a listen, my ear buds melted like cold vanilla ice cream on steamy dutch apple pie.

I was like...DAMN THIS ALBUM IS GORGEOUS!! WHY AM I JUST DISCOVERING THIS?!

The album that wooed me: Fulfullingness' First Finale (1974)

Check out Minnie, Nicey Williams, and Syreeta supplying the soft yet sultry soprano voices not to mention the mellow instrumentation and singin from Stevie. Even the breakup songs are amazing! And this brings me to the point the R&B IS DEAD!!! Yet, too many people rufuse to accept this painful fact. But that's a whole different post...dont you all worry!

My personal favorite: "Don't always inject in the same spot" (I mean really don't we all know that already?! Isn't that why some addicts go as far as to inject in their necks, feet, and/or genetalia?!)

So I was in the waiting room with my pops, and CNN was doing a spotlight on a
"This is what you need to be doing" guide (Take Charge Take Care) for heroin. I'm sitting there saying to pops, "what do you mean a proper way to use heroin?!" He just laughed and continued to read the Sports Illustrated from 2006. I'm telling you, this pamphlet would not escape my mind. I did some research and found out that $32,000 of taxpayers' money was spent to create the 70,000 copies that would be for distribution. I'm not even gonna go there about how this is absurd on so many different levels but let me just say that... my homegirl who works in the field of drug abuse/HIV ironically makes this salary!!!

Not only that, but what user you know is gonna sit there and fully read this pamphlet, hightlight important sections, and let it marinate?! You also mean to tell me that the drug dealers are gonna inlude this in the nickel and dime bags letting their customers know that "Look you better read this guide cuz if you OD, your family better not come after me cuz it ain't my fault you ain't read the guide!" Um right!

I don't give a flyin you know what if the guide is meant to limit the startling amount of overdoses from the smack. Guidebook or not, at the end of the day you still using heroin!

Just when I thought Ohio couldn't get more obnoxious... they have convinced me even more to never visit the state. I don't care if they do have one of the dopest amusement parks!

So check it: Kings Island has this annual Halloween display but the 2009 edition, well lets just say folk are doing acrobatics in their caskets. Who would have thought that a tasteless and might I say half ass display of recently deceased celebrities such a Steve McNair, Farah Fawcett, MJ, Billy Mays, etc wouldn't lead to it being classified as controversial, canceling the display all together. The insensitivity, disrespect, and so on never ceases to amaze me!!!

I mean seriously what the hell is this?! These masterminds won't be satisfied until the ghosts of these celebrities go "thriller" on them...

NOW THAT WOULD BE A DISPLAY!

Mel O. Mind Recommends

So my homie Legs suggested that I check out this documentary entitled "The Providence Effect". She's fully aware of my passion for stellar urban education where the youth (mainly our minorities), reap all the benefits on a long term basis. I took her word that I would love it and checked it out.

Legs was right, I definitely enjoyed this film. What I most admired was that the president of Providence St. Mel located in Chicago's Westside, Paul J. Adams III, argued that all schools should have these similar ideologies. Instilling into students' minds during elementary school the importance of attending college and not only during 11th and 12th grade as well as teaching rigorous yet beneficial academics should not be seen as innovative, it needs to be mandatory! These students by the completion of high school are all accepted into college, and many go on to attend Ivy League and/or First Tier institutions. How impressive is that?!

The school's history since 1971 was very interesting. From its struggle to remain open to creating a branch of charter schools throughout Chicago, this school's academic and disciplinary ideologies has gotten many with a eye for education's attention.

The film was great, however I wish during the segments in which we saw the teachers in action, they featured a Language Arts course since that is my field. Also since 100% of the students are being accepted into college, I wanted hear from the guidance counselor and college advisor on their involvement and process. Other than that, I was impressed with what I saw and I recommend seeing it.

Hip-Hop heads, theatre enthusiasts, all conscious folk who will be in NYC anytime from Oct.1-17 PLEASE hit up some of these events!!! I went to some last year and they blew me away, inspiring me to take my ode to script and music to another level. This is one of the rare occasions where my financially challenged soul didn't complain about spending money to attend several of these dope shows, cuz honestly I definitely got my money's worth.

Resurgence of Ms. Mel O. Mind

Sincerest apologies for not being in any form of existence the entire month of August. Once my job was over July 31st, a job that consisted primarily of nepotism and bleached sugar coated prejudice, I needed solace so badly that I just screamed to hell with everything!

Not entirely...

First week... relaxed in Myrtle Beach with family that I was never completely close to until the death of my Nana back in June. I actually appreciated the time spent with them because now we are inseparable and I just needed to form those special bonds with family for a change rather than my crew. I shared some poetry (rare experience) and I felt very warm that they support my talents.

Second week... crashed at my cousin's mansion like crib. I felt like a kid from the projects who ain't never been nowhere! I was so taken aback by not only the home but the strong durable work ethic all my older cousins possess that got them to where they are are. I have been encouraged even more to emulate my kin!

Third and Fourth week... I honestly think I can say that I have officially seen every episode of the Golden Girls at least 100 times. The life of a sloth I have come to realize is not the life for me. I felt like a gigantic fat ass who was a slave to junk food and the remote!!! This voluntary exile was pathetic and I knew I could get away with it now only because I won't be able to do it again until December.

Present Day... Now I am in the never ending process of regaining intelligence and awareness of the realities surrounding my post grad life.

Grad school begins Sept. 8- Peace and Love to the undergrad chapter in Queens... Say Hello to Brooklyn!

Dig it- This is part one of the Black Summers' Night trilogy. This particular album, Black, delves into relationship/intimacy deferred (i.e. frigid shoulders, misplaced love, desolation, etc). Anyone who has ever been down these avenues and streets could definitely identify with the dude's scripted pain, frustration, and subtle perplexity accompanied with the soulful, jazzy, and bluesy instrumentation.

You know when artists (specifically musicians) say they wish to paint pictures with their words and/or sounds? I just discovered that some artists wish to write, produce, and direct realistic films with their words and/or sounds. Introducing the Golden Epoch of "Cinematic Soul".

I was web record store browsing, and I came across El Michels Affair, a band hailing from
Where Brooklyn At, New York. The sound is contemporary vintage, soul/jazz, and cinematic all in one. Genuine instrumentation with minimal technology, even though I still love a dope pro tools/fruity loops creation from a sample! As I was vibin to "Sounding Out the City" and "Enter the 37th Chamber", it was like listening to a movie soundtrack, you know the classic masterpieces that were well orchestrated and reflected the sequence of events in the actual film ie. Supafly, Trouble Man, Shaft, Claudine, etc.

It was 1 thing that this sound was from this decade. It was another thing that this sound was from an actual band. And it was a whole new thing that I was able to fit these soundtracks into the autobiographical documentary I showcase on a daily!

Check out those two albums. Porque? Cuz I said so!

So if I could describe my initial reaction to this album incorporating the 4 elements, it would go a lil somethin like this:

WATER: The lyrics, the vibe, along with the beats are so refreshing- (not some dirty tap ish)- all the no substance malarkey has been filtered out!

FIRE: The blazing delivery within the speakers especially when it sparks your ears is HIGHLY FLAMMABLE!

EARTH: I don't think our planet is ready for this one cuz once I gave it a listen it MOS definitely went over this earthling's head! (in a good way)

AIR: It's audio-friendly and healthy for the listening community. lyrically and melodically based filth and suffocation have been omitted.

So dig it. A former assistant to James Marshall Hendrix, James "Tappy" Wright, claims in his "tell all this ish now" book enitled Rock Roadie that Jimi's manager, Michael Jeffrey, drunkenly confessed to murdering the musician. The year was 1971, one year following the Sept. 1970 death of Hendrix and two years prior to the tragic 1973 death of Jeffrey in a plane crash.

First of all why didn't Tappy speak up in '71 if this confession was indeed valid evidence in unconvering the hints of mystery surrounding Hendrix's cause of death? Second of all, I don't know about ya'll but why is that many of these legendary musicians' deaths go hand in hand with skepticism and one's own outlandlish beliefs? Jim Morrison never had an autopsy, and plenty of folk think that dude is alive. Not to mention, Pac and Elvis are chillin WHO KNOWS WHERE...SUPPOSEDLY!

Third of all, mad people seem to let greed for green overcome their lives especially when it comes to one's life insurance, so if this really did happen, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised... but I ain't buying it until proven otherwise!!!

I don't know about the rest of the world, but this has to be one of the best sitcoms of the 20th century. I have been an avid watcher and enthusiast since I was a kid when I didn't get half of the suggestive punchlines and subject matters. However, over time I find myself cracking up more and more whenever it's on the tube. I talk about men with my crew and I LOVE CHEESECAKE!!! Call me old, who cares! The show is amazing!

Now... I'm on this all expense paid Roy Ayers excursion at the moment and I don't think I wanna return for quite awhile. As my mind gazes at his jazzy pictures created with deep xylophone strokes, I came across one Dope song out of many.
Who would have thought that the M*A*S*H theme could undergo a soulful jazz lift? This track is off the album, Change Up The Groove (1974). "Suicide is Painless" is still my ish, but this track is sooo SCRUMPTIOUS!

So this piece, City of God's Son, is a Kenzo Digital joint. It takes mash ups to a higher level. This is a digital collage of the reign of 90s NYC hip-hop, snippets from epic films particularly crime that coincide with the concept of "gangster". It focuses on the relationship between father and son, music and art, inspiration and subtle and "sound and space". Not to mention Joe Bataan is the narrator!

Watch Men Be A-holes at the Movies

Honestly the movie was not as bad as the ignorant inconsiderate crowd was making it out to be. But with any movie, I have to watch this again without a doubt in the comfort and silence of my own crib to fully appreciate it. Even though I didn't read the novel, I knew the premise of the story plus my homie read it and wanted to check it out.

Here's a look back on last night's experience:

1. There's a reason why I rarely go to the movies let alone go on opening weekend: PEOPLE DON'T KNOW HOW TO ACT!!!

2. I was ready to become very un-Mel O. towards all the loud mouths who felt it necessary to point out Mr. Manhattan being naked! Obviously they didn't read the novel b/c they would have known this already!

3. I'm still laughing at my friend who found the comedian's uber masculinity "sexy"

4. THOSE WERE THE DOPEST OPENING CREDITS I HAVE EVER SEEN!!!!

5. I will admit, the last 20 mins were pretty pointless. I was ready to leave once Rorschach died.

6. My friend and I pointed out that though the film stuck to most of the book's plot, the movie tried to cater to everyone through the violence, deep message, and sex which was a bit much to grasp

7. I had to change my seat b/c I was sitting next to 2 racist pricks who were making so many ignorant comments about black people but why be mad at them? My friend and I were doing the same thing to an extent.

8. Is it just me or does that movie with Seth Rogen look like a knock off Paul Blart?

9. Richard Nixon's nose was AWFUL... but seriously could you imagine if he actually was president for 3 terms if that were possible?

10. the theater was inundated with underdeveloped testosterone (constant yelling and chanting at the screen making it extremely difficult to hear the film... ignorant jerks!!)

I had no business being up mad late last night after 3:00 A.M. but that's what happens when you decide to take a "nap" at 10 P.M. and wake up wired at 12:30 A.M. instead of sleeping the entire night!!!

Anyway, during the hours in which the adrenaline was pumping, I was perusing imeem listening to some slow jams, old school treats. I had to in order to drown out the ignorance that was coming out of that wack mf plies mouth blasting from my roommate's speakers in the living room. I'm not even going to get into that dude so let's just move on....

OK, I found this track by Billy Paul entitled, "Let the Dollar Circulate", and immediately it has been added to the soundtrack of my life, the 2009 installment.

(politicians talkin' crazy, unemployment pandemic, late rent payments, interest rate increase, utility, gasoline, and meat prices at an all time high... this was 75' so not a thing has changed!)

He a genuine MC spittin about life from his own lens. He's not trying to be overly conscious, street, or political. He's just a dude from Vancouver who from his music can tell he loves doing what does.

Yea yea every urban blogger posted this video but many did not provide his/her reaction to it. The video is fly. I'm all about creative minds putting their thoughts down on film. And not to mention he looks sooooo dapper in a tux. My kind of video. I don't think a video how been this fly since Badu's "Honey" video!!!

I must admit it took me a couple minutes to get into the dude cuz I assumed he would be wack and a cliche hipster rapper. Not to mention when folk see me they assume that's the only music I bump so I wanted to prove them all wrong! UGH LABELS!!! HOWEVER, once I downloaded the mixtape and singled out the tracks I would latter run dry and realized how much of an attractive dude he was, it was official that he was going to be my new celeb crush. I haven't had one of those in a minute!

PS- He needs to make some form of a video for "Whenever". TRUST IT WOULD BE A REYNOLD'S WRAP!!!

Okay some folk may have gotten the joke but some are slower than others, namely moi. I mean c'mon how many people were informed about a chimp shooting?! But seriously though my people, this primate to black folk analogy hasn't been forced to bed yet? I've been a bit of a sloth these past few days but I'm back. So here's a recap of what took place in my life.

- Finally re-twisted my locs!!! They were a HOT MESS (APPEARANCE AND SMELL WISE)
- Received $25 from pops for Valentine's Day... this man never lets me down =)
- Hung out with my homie Ernie on Saturday night... it was a blast
- Went to church... it was a Catholic one but does it even matter sometimes especially when you haven't been in attendance in months?!
- Began reading V for Vendetta... Me Likes
- Finally broke down and downloaded A Kid Named Cudi Mixtape and realized that it's pretty dope and plus he's a cutie anyway.
- Considering going for a double masters at NYU (if I get accepted)- Creative Writing and Sociology.
- Is psyched about graduate school and the accompanying life. It shall be great!
- Was handed 4 units that must have lesson plans by Monday. Will I finish?! Yo espero!
- Saw a mouse in my apt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The little runt must go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Found out one of my best friend's mother had a heart attack =(

This album is SCRUMPTIOUS! India is talking life and politics, but not the obvious politics such as Obama, Gasoline Corruption, and Economic Meltdown. It's more so the politics of spirituality, faith, relationships, life, womanhood, awareness, and so much more good stuff.

I must say though that some of the beats on a couple tracks do kinda remind me of Folger's coffee and/or prescription specifically Gardasil commercials, but I ain't knocking it though.

Mel O. Mind Recommends...

I went to the IFC Center in the village this past Saturday and checked out the film above. I really enjoyed it. So the guy and girl, Micah and Joanne, wake up at a friend's place after a night of debauchery, and dedicate the entire day making connections through conversations about race, identity, gentrification, and relationships in an ever evolving San Fransisco neighborhood.

What stood out:

- the transition of the film's color (it begins very dull not quite black and white but more so very light water color based. Then at the conclusion of the film, the color is very bold and clear. It's something to think about.)

- People from San Francisco love their bike which I plan to cop summer 2009

- The soundtrack is pretty cool

- This is director Barry Jenkins' first film (very impressive for a newcomer)

- The one night stand notion was not delivered like a cliche Hollywood film (the plot and sub plots were pretty realistic to the real world, but then again that is relative)

- Scene where there was no verbal dialogue were filmed well

I definitely want to watch this again so that I can pick up on what I missed. You ever since I took this intense film class last semester, I now watch ever movie with a critical lens!

Ok I don't if it's just me and my mommy but is Erectile Dysfunction/Enhancement a pandemic on the dl ?! I can't go 1 day without seeing dozens of commercials of old geezers or creepy looking middle aged men talking about their "problem" and how it was resolved with some sketchy pill that helps them perform better and/or enlarges their penis size. The radio is not exempt either! Is it really necessary for me to hear 3 ads in 20 mins in the middle of the day?! I think I would rather hear about the latest gospel play in my city... nah not really!!!

But seriously I did not know Erectile Dysfunction/Enhancement was prevalent amongst the older men for these commercials to be airing CONSTANTLY!!!

(PS- Is it just out of the fear of embarrassment to a possible truth or how come we never see men of color in these ads?)

The Mellow Happenings Of R.J: 3 Day Wrap Up

So this is what done in my life the past 3 days:

- Hung out with my peeps in Harlem and saw Notorious. It was a pretty decent movie even though some scenes were a bit embellished and Lil Kim's portrayal was kinda along the lines of being Big's "jumpoff".

- Went to a nice bookstore/cafe a few doors down from the theater that had the best cherry/strawberry/red cupcakes with cream cheese icing ever! Even though they should have been cheaper or larger in size considering they were $3.50!

- Spent the night in Bk with friends and watched the life and times of Mutulu Shakur on American Gangster. It was very enlightening considering that I did not know too much about him B4.

- Hung out with my people today in Queens. I realized that my friends obsess over Indian and Asian men more so than black men but hey I ain't knocking it!

- Perused Craigslist laughing at the "personal ads". Okay, when men are seeking to find a jumpoff for the night on there do all their photos have to be of their penis?!?!?! Can I get a real photo of the actual dude?!?!

- Just found out that my student teaching may take place at a middle school. I really do not care at this point, I just want it to be over with, however I BETTER NOT TEACH 6TH GRADERS!!!

- Embarked on writing two pieces, "Fear of the Black Woman Vagina" (remix to Nas's "Fear of Mandingo") and about the true purposes of Fiber Optics. Be on the lookout on those.

- Spent all Sunday night/early Monday morning watching "Soul Train" from the 70s on Youtube.

5. Graduate with Honors this May! (Actually graduate period.)

8. Apply to Grad school for Spring 2010 (NYU is my #1)
9. Save money throughout the year (work hard. but not to death!)

23. continue my hustle as a proctor for the SAT's ($100 a month= oh yea!)
24. be more active on campus (show them fools R.J. got something to say!)
25. do my thing with student teaching even though I know for sure I do not want it to be my career
26. cook more (next life I'll be a world class chef so why not begin during this one)
27. actually get my license and stop letting my permit expire

New to Inner City Truths... I usually post musical, social, political, fashionable, and sometimes poetic truths but I think I can get a bit more personal with the people who stop past and read...

So on 1/21/09 this was my life:

- woke up dumb early (7ish) b/c was I was supposed to get my fingerprints done for student teaching but I was too tired and sore from the previous stomach virus I recently got over and from moving mad luggage back to my place.

- So I had student teaching orientation from 12-2.

- I find out my 3 placement choices fell through. Damn.

- So I may be placed either at Jamaica or Hillcrest or possibly Thomas Edison. These are all walking distance from my building so I have no quarrels.

- Hung out with my pal J Dot (simple and straightforward convos are always awesome)

- 1st day at my Writing for Social Action Class. We watched videos pertaining to activism and protest and did some free writing (note to self: supply new songs to professor's list!)

- Hang out with my buddy Misha after what felt like a 5 yr hiatus.

- We bought chinese food (the only "fast food" I can eat since I'm abstaining from everywhere else!)

- Fell into a very acute slumber from 7:30-10:30 (I was dumb tired since I got minimal rest last night)

- Enjoyed Top Chef but missed my embarrassing guilty pleasure... Real World BK

- Perused the blog circuit and found some gems.

- IS REALIZING NOW THAT THIS IS MY LAST SEMESTER AS AN UNDERGRAD--- !@#$

So I was in the car last night listening to a D.C. station that was playing this ILL MIX called the "middle school mix". Throwback Mary J., City High (I know right), Eve, Nas, and some L-Boogie along with some other tunes that escaped me.

So all the ill songs from '96-'02 back when I couldn't live w/o the radio put a huge grin on me and my homie Uni Q's face on our way to Red Lobster.

However...

In the midst of the the 808s blastin "Lost Ones", I turned to Uni and said to her...

"She's never coming back, is she?"

Even though I read this random article in the New York Post that she unexpectedly walked into a equestrian club and rode a horse and took her kids to a Martha Stewart book signing a few months back, this fly lady is gone ya'll... 4 NOW

The FCC Can Not Censor True Life Even If They Tried!

Song lyrics, video games, and Hollywood movies do not light a candle to the gruesome realities of the ongoing violence in our society. People can argue that the media promotes this but what about areas in the world where these forms of entertainment are an unattainable luxury rather than a superficial necessity like they are in America?
New articles, radio reports, eyewitness stories, that's more horrific than any game of Grand Theft Auto or Hip-Hop lyric, and I don't care what anyone says. The gruesome accounts of what's going down on the Gaza Strip, that ish is crazy son!

So I read an article today about a doctor in Gaza City on his way to the hospital, but not to work. He and his daughter needed immediate medical attention due to the fact that their apartment was bombarded and remodeled by Hamas militants. His wife was ripped in half and his one year old son was now in pieces.

A militant of the Islamic Jihad insisted that he be treated and released so that he can return to the battlefield. Doctors say to him why is he so happy about the lives being lost and this gruesome battle in general. He says to them that these people in the hospital and throughout the city lost loved ones who are now martyrs.

And this is his personal aspiration.

"Real World" Brooklyn? (Gentrified)

I had to watch it. It was imperative that I witnessed the acutely melanated cast travel to one of the most gentrified parts of BK. Even though I was almost certain that Williamsburg would be their residence, I knew it would be another homogeneous part if I was wrong. So check it: they reside in this converted warehouse in Red Hook, an area that definitely underwent a socioeconomic/physical transplant. Way back in a poetry class I took, I was listening to some white kids' recommending bar spots to each other and a couple were in Red Hook. The one dude said Red Hook is a very rough spot. My professor who is a 30 or 40 something hippie white woman even said please that area is so gentrified. Enough said.

The milli second shot of the fridge stocked of Juniors cheesecake and MTV's LAME attempt at urbanizing the opening theme did it for me.
I'm sorry this season ain't seasoned enough for me! The only interesting thing about the show is the transgender post-opp girl, Katelynn. Other than that, the show is pretty yawntastic. The roommate selection could be way more diverse. I'm not saying where's the angry black woman, the conceited black man, but DAMN!

Check out the tribute video "I Would Take the Pain Away" to former Pakistani Prime Minister, Benazir Bhutto, who was assassinated in Dec. 2007. Bhutto's 18 yr old daughter is the MC and it just goes to show that anyone can pour out their genuine emotions with the assistance of a beat and hip-hop influences. This video makes me cry tears of sympathy and anger as to why these monsters in the the world are so f*ckin' obsessed with mutilating one another not just over there but here too!

Burris was denied his seat in the senate today. He could have the 1 black person seated in office, however the Democrats weren't having that. When I think about, he's too good of a politician to come into office in the midst of the Blago fiasco simply because he'll just be bearing the guilt of association. Damn you Blago!
But why is it that during tumultuous times, these white politcians who are the result of the mess try to pass on the job to a black man? Not like we are unable to repair these busted problems, but I'm just saying!
Anyway, Burris is considering to file a federal lawsuit forcing his seat in the senate. We'll see how that all goes.

What's goin on people-

Tonight I was on this mission to find some classic Spiderman comics, yet SOMEHOW I stumbled across this lost gem... Fast Willie Jackson. Well actually, after I found what I was looking for, I went on a search for comics with African Americans as the leading hero and that's how I found Willie. Anyway, once I got a look at the cover and it's captions, it was mandatory for me to do some research. The comics were creator Bertam Fitzgerald's attempt at creating the African American version of the Archie comics, however the comics only lasted 7 issues during '76-'77.

Had this comic lived to see other decades, would there have been alterations in its lingo or would it be forever frozen in it's jive talk and funky fashion. Not that I would be opposed to it.

I definitely should have been on the writing staff playing a key role in creating a much stronger and appealing storyline, I think I could've taken it places. Sort of like the female Aaron Magruder. I can dig it!

So I was perusing Current and I came across a video that definitely grabbed every fiber of my musical being. This clip I'm premiering in the 09 is a clip from the upcoming documentary called, "Founding Fathers". Was hip-hop really conceived in the BX or was South Jamaica (Queens) and BK already pros at it with the dope sound systems, djing, fly parties, and MC's? This is definitely a must see. I'm not gonna discredit the Bronx, DJ Kool Herc, and Grandmaster Flash cuz it wasn't as if I was in existence, but it makes you think a bit.

Why I'm so late in discovering this?! I HAVE NO EXCUSE!!!

Say hello to "low key" guy, Roland Burris. He was recently appointed by 80s hair wearing hustler/governor to fill in Obama's vacant seat which has already ignited debate amongst senate leaders.
Silently working for change in Illinois for over 40 years, Burris has broke racial barriers by becoming the first African American comptroller from 1979-1991 and the state general from 1991 -1995. He is without a doubt a genuine maverick for abortion rights, gay rights, minority rights, and the overall the well being of Illinois.
For someone has has no skeletons in his closet and is simply an honest man just trying to better his community, the Senate would be ludicrous is they reject his appointment!

I'm am far from being a film fanatic, but lately I've been on a quest for power films during my break. I was so intrigued by the previews of Slumdog Millionaire that I actually made the effort in seeing it. And let me just say this has to be one of the greatest movies I have seen in a good minute!
The plot focuses on 18 yr old Jamal Malik who is a contestant on the Hindi version of "Who Wants to be a Millionaire". I don't want to give away the movie because the dynamics will be stripped away if I go into detail about why he is on there and its connection to his life story which unfolds through each question he is to answer by means of flashbacks and recollections of his turbulent upbringing.

People go see the film, it's worth the overpriced ticket!

So the A-list celeb on Wall St, Bernard Madoff, was arrested yesterday for conjuring up one of the biggest frauds in history. This guy racked in $50 BILLION in fraudulent investments.Madoff can face up to 20 years if convicted. This case has been defined as a Ponzi Scheme. I wasn't familiar with the term so I did some research and found out that it is a swindle operation that involves promising or paying ridiculously high profits to investors out of the money paid in by subsequent investors, rather than from net revenues generated by any real business. The profit is high and short term with the intent of bringing in a flow of new investors. The money must continue coming in for the scheme to be a success though as the investor count increases, the faster the scheme collapses.

I knew it was called Wall St. for a reason. A blockade is the only way to hide shady business.

So check it, Apple Juice Kid has remixed some of Miles Davis' classic tunes by adding pinches of that savory hip-hop flavor to it without OD-ing on it. This mixtape is reminiscent of Madlib's "Shades of Blue" , another classic hip-hop jazz remixed album. This the kind of album you can vibe too while doing cleaning your place, doing papers, or simply chill out to. Cops keep degradin' us in our environment

So Michael Mineo was assaulted and sodomized by three officers in the Prospect Park subway station in BK on Oct.15. The weapon of choice was in the form of an officer's baton. It was announced yesterday that the officers will be indicted on these charges as the case continues in the upcoming days. One officer came forward and said he saw the ring leader, Richard Kern, assault Mineo with the baton. Even a transit officer, witnessed this grotesque form of brutality. However, Kern CLAIMS he did nothing wrong, but yet this dude was accused and acquitted of course of excessive force back in 2007. And one of his "comrades" claims that he did not use the baton as an act of sodomy but "placed" or "pushed" it against his buttocks.
C'mon are they freakin' serious right now?! So what sodomy is now synonymous to brutality which is all ready bad enough?
To be blunt with ya'll it won't be a surprise if they are acquitted. But I'll keep you posted on any updates

I was listening to Dr. Joy Browne last week, and she was talking about the new phenomenon in regard to STD awareness. When a person finds out they have an STD and/or exposed a partner they had in the past 6 months to one, they can inform them by means of the internet.
Bloggers, I present to you In Spot. If simply being sexually responsible in the first place, getting tested regularly, or letting your partner know in person or by phone fails... SEND THEM AN E-CARD LIKE THESE!!!

Ok first of all, anyone who sends someone an e-card on such a sensitive and serious matter as sexual health obviously is just as careless when they were sleeping around.
