Humpday Festivities...

So my final ends at 3:30 and my last one isn't until Friday. I haven't been to a show since Jill Scott was in BK this past August, and that's kinda unhealthy for me, musically. So, me and my buddy 5th Avenger will be in the building. Those in the NYC area who are interested should hit this up

Video De La Dia

This is one of my favorite songs off of Q-tip's new album, The Renaissance. The track is entitled, "Move", and just by its title and the ill "Dancin Machine" sample produced by the late grrreat Jdilla, you will be movin'! Listen, I can't be all stiff when this track is oozing out the speakers! This is the kinda song that makes me wanna be on a skating rink even though I ain't the greatest or have just bop down the street with some
ENORMOUS headphones

The video has an 1982-83 feel to it simply because it's reminiscent of "Rock With You"

Cops keep degradin' us in our environment

So Michael Mineo was assaulted and sodomized by three officers in the Prospect Park subway station in BK on Oct.15. The weapon of choice was in the form of an officer's baton. It was announced yesterday that the officers will be indicted on these charges as the case continues in the upcoming days. One officer came forward and said he saw the ring leader, Richard Kern, assault Mineo with the baton. Even a transit officer, witnessed this grotesque form of brutality. However, Kern CLAIMS he did nothing wrong, but yet this dude was accused and acquitted of course of excessive force back in 2007. And one of his "comrades" claims that he did not use the baton as an act of sodomy but "placed" or "pushed" it against his buttocks.
C'mon are they freakin' serious right now?! So what sodomy is now synonymous to brutality which is all ready bad enough?
To be blunt with ya'll it won't be a surprise if they are acquitted. But I'll keep you posted on any updates

The Fly 5

Shouts to Citizen Ojo for nominating me for the award. Seeing that made my day. It's a dope feeling to know people respect what I do let alone read the blog... I'm so touched lol

So here's the Fly 5 for ya mind 1 time!!!
(click on the name to view the blog)

1. Aunt Jemima's Revenge: My muse in the blogosphere. Prof. Tracey is blunt, educated, and witty with the political, racial, and social happenings. My mind packs on the pounds of useful info on a daily!

2. Stuff Fly People Like: My Online Mag covering fashion, music, art, and culture. These dudes have a constant follower. So keep doin' what you do!!!

3. Universoul Productions Weblog: Audio Utopia. The musical downloads and entries are RIDICULOUS!!! Any genre, hip-hop, reggae, brazilian, underground, unreleased, etc... DOPENESS!!! Even though the site has been facing difficulties since September (tears), the older entries are still worth checking out for the visual and audio stimulation

4. The Urban Gent: Why this gem wasn't dug up sooner, I cannot even provide you with an answer. However, this is the illest fashion site thus far and the genious behind it is a lady!
"Don't you stop it, don't you stop, stop the bloggin' Jacinda". All I have to say is ladies do pay attention to men's fashion and it's nothing sexier than a man who can truly dress from the haute hat on his head, to the chic shoes securing his socks. She provides you with the specifics not just look at this outfit and comment.
5. Undercover Black Man: He has such a wide range of posts that grabs just about anyone's attention. The musical, political, historical, and social reads are tall glasses of insight, and I stay thirsty for it. Check the dude out!

World AIDS Day: A Conscious Celebration

Celebrate by thinking to yourself... How can I help?
Celebrate by protecting yourself for the sake of your own heath as well as your partner and loved one's.
Celebrate by becoming more educated on the seriousness of this epidemic and how it is massacring adults and children by the thousands
(not just in Africa but here in the U.S. even your own city)
Celebrate by empowering those who are incognizant of this critical issue
Celebrate by sending a financial donation to AIDS research and sanitary/effective HIV facilities around the world
(any amount is is better than nothing)
Celebrate by writing letters and signing petitions to politicians arguing to make this issue one of their top priorities

Finally...

Celebrate by paraying, wishing, and hoping that this EPIDEMIC will find its weakness... A CURE!
